Fun Finds at Seattle ReCreative

Nestled in the heart of Seattle lies a hidden gem for the creatively inclined: Seattle ReCreative. The original store is tucked away in the vibrant Greenwood neighborhood and is a whimsical space that is a haven for artists, crafters, educators and DIY enthusiasts. From its eclectic assortment of art supplies to its cozy workshop atmosphere, Seattle ReCreative offers an immersive experience unlike any other.

I recently took a friend to their newer Seattle ReCreative Georgetown location. Upon stepping through the doors we were greeted by an explosion of color and creativity. The walls are adorned with artwork from local artists, setting the stage for a truly inspiring experience. The space itself is warm and inviting, with shelves lined with an array of art supplies just waiting to be transformed into something magnificent.

One of the first things that catches the eye is the extensive selection of upcycled materials. From fabric scraps to paper rolls, old buttons to vintage trinkets, Seattle ReCreative is a treasure trove of repurposed goodies. These items aren't just discarded materials; they're opportunities waiting to be realized. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a novice artist, there's something here for everyone to spark their imagination.

As you meander through the aisles, you'll encounter bins filled with odds and ends just waiting to be discovered. Perhaps you'll stumble upon a bundle of colorful yarn that inspires your next knitting project, or maybe you'll find a collection of old keys that sparks an idea for a mixed-media masterpiece. The possibilities are endless, and part of the magic of Seattle ReCreative is the joy of stumbling upon unexpected treasures.

My favorite find was this $25 vintage thread cabinet which I can’t wait to turn into an imaginative assemblage.

In addition to its vast selection of upcycled materials, Seattle ReCreative also offers a variety of art classes and workshops to help unleash your creativity. From painting and drawing to ceramics and jewelry making, there's a class for every interest and skill level. Led by talented local artists, these classes provide the perfect opportunity to learn new techniques, hone your skills, and connect with fellow creatives in the community.

One of the highlights of visiting Seattle ReCreative is the sense of community that permeates the space. Whether you're chatting with fellow patrons while browsing the aisles or collaborating with others in a workshop, there's a flowing energy that comes from being surrounded by like-minded individuals who share a passion for creativity. It's a place where ideas are exchanged, friendships are formed, and artistic visions come to life.

But Seattle ReCreative is more than just a place to buy art supplies or take a class; it's a beacon of sustainability in the community. By repurposing discarded materials and promoting eco-friendly practices, Seattle ReCreative is committed to reducing waste and inspiring others to embrace a more sustainable way of living. It's a reminder that creativity knows no bounds and that even the simplest of materials can be transformed into something extraordinary with a little imagination and ingenuity.

I’m hoping to bring people from rePurpose (the zero waste group I co-founded) on a tour here in the next few months. It’s so inspiring!

Whether you're a seasoned artist looking for inspiration or a curious newcomer eager to explore your creative side, Seattle ReCreative offers an experience that is truly unique. With its eclectic assortment of upcycled materials, engaging workshops, and vibrant community atmosphere, it's a place where creativity thrives and possibilities abound.
